lights...

Thank you, wonderful shelter bloggers and readers, for the tremendous encouragement you have shown me. Each one of you is a lovely light now shining in my life.

A belated thank you to
 I am so honored.
The lovely Vintage Wren honored me with this Beautiful Blogger Award;
  little blue deer was kind enough to recognize me with this Happy Honor;

The gift of self is the best gift we can give. Thank you all for the gifts you give us daily. And, as customary, here are just a few little bits about me:

I have been in love with antiques/vintage since college and still love anything with a worn and loved surface. I was an antique dealer for several years and now just collect for myself. Nothing terribly fine, just interesting and the quirkier, the better. In the past few years, I have been trying for a more new/old mix which I love.

I think David Letterman is totally sexy.

I am an avid cyclist and a member of a local cycling club. I have ridden as many as 75 miles in one day; but much prefer 30 - 40 mile rides.

I will fight you for Lindor truffles.

One of my passions is hospice care (care for the terminally ill). I used to be a patient care volunteer, but have moved into volunteer fundraising for my local hospice. I help organize an annual fundraising cycling event in my community; we have raised around $75,000 from our events.

I would marry the Barefoot Contessa, I don't care if she is a woman. That adorable Jeffrey could come along, too...

I pass the Beautiful Blogger award along to these wonderful bloggers. Babies, pass along the award only if you choose; you are not obligated. Just wanted to say 'I adore you.'

Please visit these blogs, if you haven't already. I have linked to one particularly wonderful post on Petunia Face.

Fact is, I adore all the blogs I visit daily and regret that I am unable to list them all. You all light my days and YOU are the reason I get absolutely nothing done anymore....

i love the lighting in those photos. I'm always turning off lights and lighting candles or strands of lights to illuminate (ever so lightly) whatever room i'm in. "mood lighting" is so peaceful.

btw, nice blog. found it after you commented on my wife's blog...

Oh, I love this post - great photos and really loved your self-revealing comments. Too funny. I will fight you for Ina too. I love her. I could live a long and happy sexless life with her, adoring her and eating her amazing food. hahaha. I would be so good to her. I hope Jeffrey is - she's a gem. I always hope these amazing women are loved enough.

So amazing that you do/did hospice care. I am looking to get involved in one here for cancer patients. I feel totally called to it. My father was ill for 15 years with a neurological disease and gradually lost everything, then he was in a nursing home and finally palliative care. I get it all and felt very comfortable in those places and would like to give back now!

I love chocolate too, but that is amazing about your cycling. I avoid exercise.

Adding you to my blogroll as I keep forgetting. xo Terri

Congratulations on your awards - fantastic! My husband is a mad keen cyclist and he did the follow the Tour de France in '08... I stayed at Versailles!!! It is very special that you work with terminally ill people.. is a very sad and demanding thing to do. I used to be a nurse so you must be a very empathetic and kind person. Have a wonderful Easter.
